December 4, 2016 | If you’re one of those people who never go to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned because you can’t afford it and medicaid hasn’t covered it, then you my friend have some good news coming your way!
This past year for 2016, Missouri was issued a grant from the federal level to expand adult dental medicaid in our state. So, if you’re one of the 282,000 adults living in Missouri with medicaid and haven’t had your teeth checked…well, get to it!
What Dental Services Are Covered?
Good question. According to the Missouri Department of Social Services, dental coverage includes preventive services, restorative services, periodontal treatment, oral surgery, extractions, radio-graphs, pain evaluation and relief, infection control, and general anesthesia. Previously, coverage of dental services was limited to trauma of the mouth, jaw, or teeth as a result of injury or medical condition. Dental coverage has been and continues to be available for children enrolled in Missouri’s CHIP and Medicaid programs.
What Other Options Are There For Those Not On Medicaid?
This is another great question. If you still don’t qualify for adult medicaid and need some dental work done, then come visit us at our Family Dental Clinic in St. Joseph, Missouri. You can walk in, fill out a discount program application and schedule an appointment based off your income. If you qualify, you will only pay a small part of the bill and Northwest Health Services takes care of the rest. We are committed to helping those in need in our community.
We hope this information is helpful to those who seek it. From your friends at Northwest Health, have a wonderful day.
