Standing with Orlando in Missouri

For the surviving everyday commonplace is violated and no longer feels safe. It is with these challenges and challenges like these (suicide, sexual/physical abuse, mass shootings) our communities face that we remain grateful for our mental health providers.

Mental health providers don’t simply support the impacted, they support the world around us. Exposure to violence or abuse are strong predictors of higher chronic conditions, not to mention the higher utilization and cost to the health system.

An event such as the mass shooting in Orlando shouldn’t be a fortune-telling of our future as Americans. Healing is possible and we have mental health providers in our communities for support.

We urge our community reacting to media coverage of these events, or other traumatic events like local instances of suicide to know the symptoms of trauma and reach out for help.
